We went to Forest Hills the same day that we had eaten lunch in Central Park (Fall in the City) and had been a long day and was getting pretty late, so we decided to just get dinner and to see just a glimpse of Austin Street. We hopped on the F train, got off at 71st Street, and literally walked for about two minutes until we got to the restaurant that my aunt wanted to take us to, MoCA. MoCA is a fusion Asian bistro with a very modern and unique feel. When I say modern, I mean MODERN! When you walk into MoCA, your head is moving in every direction trying to take it all in; the bathroom even puts you in a state of awe and my friend and I were in there longer then we had to trying to figure out how to wash our hands in the circular, central fountain like structure. After we finally left the amazing bathroom and sat down to order. I had the Tom Kha Gai, a spicy Thai coconut soup, as an appetizer and Tuna Tartar with mango, avocado, and a crisp. The picture shows my tuna tartar, my friend's sushi, and my aunt's Pad Thai. The picture seems a little dark because the table has a red light adding to the modern feel. If the way the food is plated is keeping with the modern feel as you can see from from tuna tartar that is plated inside another plate of ice. MoCA was extremely packed and was definitely a popular spot, that I suggest 100%!
After dinner, we walked around Austin Street for a little bit and looked into the little boutiques (and the regular stores like Victoria's Secret) and stopped into Europan Bakery Cafe for a little dessert (tirimisu and chocolate mousse). Forest Hills is definitely a lot closer than the city with a little bit of the same vibe and trip is less then half the time it takes to go to the city!
